Do You Drink 8 Glasses of Water Every Day?

Do You Drink 8 Glasses of Water Every Day?

Or Are You Just Following Another Health Myth?

When I ask business owners:

“How much water do you drink every day?”

Many proudly say:

“Shruti, I drink 4 litres a day.”

As if they’ve just won a gold medal in health.

But here’s a slightly uncomfortable question…

Who told you that you must drink 8 glasses or 4 litres of water every day?

A doctor?

Science?

Research?

Or WhatsApp University?

Are you ready to hear something surprising?

That famous “8 glasses a day” rule that the whole world keeps repeating…

No one has been able to find a clear scientific source for it.

Yes.

You read that right.

One researcher went through old studies, databases, and nutrition literature looking for the evidence.

And the result?

Nothing.

No solid scientific foundation.

And that’s where the story gets interesting.

The Biggest Problem in the Health Industry

The problem isn’t a lack of information.

The problem is too much information.

And an even bigger problem?

People don’t know what they don’t know.

So one person says:

Drink 4 litres.
Drink only alkaline water.
Use a copper bottle.
Drink hydrogen water.
Add pink salt.
Carry a giant bottle everywhere.

And eventually people become confused.

Health was simple.

The industry made it complicated.

Your Body Isn’t That Stupid

Think about this for a moment.

If your body truly needed exactly 8 glasses of water every day…

Why would nature create a thirst mechanism?

Your body has a highly sophisticated system that constantly monitors:

How much water you have
Your sodium levels
Your hydration status
What needs to be conserved

This system has been working since the day you were born.

Yet many people trust a random Instagram reel more than their own biology.

The Real Problem Business Owners Have Isn’t Water

I’ve never looked at a business owner and thought:

“Your company isn’t growing because you’re not drinking enough water.”

But I’ve met thousands of people who are:

Chronically stressed
Sleeping poorly
Running on high cortisol
Eating heavily processed food
Sitting for most of the day

And then they ask:

“Shruti, how much water should I drink?”

That’s like the Titanic sinking while you’re asking:

“Which side should I place the chair on?”

The problem isn’t water.

The problem is the system.

Another Myth That Needs to Go

People often say:

“Coffee dehydrates you.”

Research on habitual coffee drinkers found that hydration markers were nearly identical between coffee and water.

What does that mean?

I’m not saying replace water with coffee.

I’m simply saying:

Reality is usually more nuanced than social media makes it seem.

Health Isn’t a Numbers Game

This is something I’ve observed repeatedly.

The people who reduce health to numbers often become the most disconnected from their bodies.

10,000 steps.

8 glasses of water.

120 grams of protein.

16 hours of fasting.

7 supplements.

3 litres of water.

Everything becomes a number.

But your body doesn’t speak in numbers.

Your body speaks through signals.

Maybe That’s Why So Many People Feel Exhausted

They’re tracking everything.

Calories.

Macros.

Water.

Sleep scores.

Heart rate.

Steps.

And still their energy is low.

Why?

Because health doesn’t come from tracking.

Health comes from understanding.

What We Do at WAYDA

At WAYDA, we don’t just look at what you’re eating.

We look deeper.

What state is your body currently in?
Can you recognize your body’s signals?
Can you tell the difference between stress and hunger?
Where is your energy leaking?

Because most of the time, the real problem isn’t the one that’s visible.

And the solution usually isn’t the one Instagram is selling.

One Final Thought

The health industry teaches you:

Control your body.

I believe:

Understand your body.

Control may create temporary results.

Understanding creates lifelong freedom.

And perhaps that’s why…

You don’t necessarily need to drink more water.

You need to learn the language your body is already speaking.
